We were able to run through the Proposed Amendments and Resolutions Booklet utilizing Robert’s Rules of Order as practice for some but an introduction for most.  They also scripted and showed us how the rules can be utilized.  The scenario was how to suspend rules to hear an amendment out of order and then the protocol on how to amend that amendment.  The example is relevant to this convention in particular because we are likely to see the seniority amendments be lobbied to be heard out of order due to the large number of seniority amendments being proposed.  The reason for that posturing is because if one of these amendments gets passed, the remaining similar amendments will fall to the floor and in essence be wiped out.  Drew Stewart was one of the speakers for this briefing and is eager to clarify on Robert’s Rules, as well as, the proposals and will likely have information for our two upcoming local meetings.  Please try and make one.

As for the booklet with the Proposed Amendments and Resolutions, we did have some spirited debate on some of these. We will expound on what these proposals are and share our thoughts and opinions on them at our two local meetings.

Some of the other issues addressed while we were there were new CBA highlights, official-time for retirement seminars, Pro Standards and more.   Check the link below:
